Project Description and Scope:

BAI delivers high‐quality communications infrastructure to large‐scale transit systems across the globe. In Toronto, BAI funded, designed and built the cellular coverage, public Wi‐Fi and fibre optics network for the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) subway system.

The State Group completed installations at 75 stations encompassing all 79 platforms, mezzanines, walkways, passageways and stairways throughout the Toronto transit system and the 6 new subways stations on the Toronto‐York Spadina Subway Extension (TYSSE) line completed in December 2017.

State Group’s scope of work included:

  • Fibre optic cable installation
  • Single‐strand fibre and ribbon cable fusion splicing
  • Category 6 cable installation for Wi‐Fi
  • Coax cable installation for distributed antenna system
  • Testing and verification
  • Rigid conduit installation and cable pathways
  • Installation of electrical services
  • Installation of network enclosures, wireless access points and cellular antennas
  • Data centre installations
  • Project management, detailed project scheduling, safety services, and site coordination with our customer, the TTC and other prime stakeholders
  • Inventory management, warehousing and logistics
  • Service, maintenance and 24/7 emergency response
