Project Description and Scope:
The Toronto York Spadina Subway Extension is 8.6km and consists of six new stations: Downsview Park, Finch West, York University, Pioneer Village, Highway 407 and Vaughan Metropolitan Centre.
The TTC awarded the contract to The State Group for the supply and installation of the subway radiating cable in the running structure, emergency trip stations, subway ventilation controls, station data acquisition (SCADA), the fiber optic backbone and the tunnel phone system. These systems together make up a critical component for the safety assurance and requirements for the trains to run within the system.
State Group’s scope was also to supply and install traction power cabling in the running structure, including electrically operated isolating switches, shorting switches, tie breakers and power cabling and the integration to the substations in the system.
State Group’s role was to deliver the installation, testing of the equipment, communication cables, controls for the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System in the tunnel sections and in the six stations.
State Group successfully completed the connection of the SCADA system from the TTC existing system to the new Transit Control System.
