Project Description and Scope:
The Napanee Generating Station (NGS) is a 900 megawatt (MW), combined cycle, natural gas‐fuelled electricity generating station located in Eastern Ontario in the town of Greater Napanee. NGS consists of two 271 MW gas turbine/generator sets and one 457 MW steam turbine/generator set.
The NGS will function as a flexible power system with the ability to start and stop daily and produce a varied output of energy to meet the needs of Ontario’s electricity demand.
The State Group commenced work at NGS in the capacity of Site Services which primarily involved Civil works (grout, concrete, excavation, backfill, etc.), site maintenance and logistics, temporary power and scaffolding services. Additional scope was awarded to State Group including structural steel, equipment preservation, cathodic protection, plant and roadway lighting, security cameras and material management. State Group also managed subcontractors that were executing the roofing, landscaping, coating, mechanical (HVAC‐R, piping, etc.) and electrical work fronts. State Group mobilized to NGS in September 2017 until May 2019.
