Project Description and Scope:
No. 3 Temper Mill Project is new Stand Alone 4 Hi Non Reversing Skin Pass Mill facility located in Hamilton, Ontario. State safely performed over 150,000 skilled trade hours of all trades including the management of HVAC equipment, cladding and painting sub-contractors.
Project installation commenced November 2013, with a construction completion date of October 2014, and having the first production coil produced in December 2014.
Scope of work included the procurement of piping systems, electrical, structural components, the installation of mechanical and electrical equipment, which included for the entry side equipment (loading), entry area equipment for storage and transporting coils for the entry side equipment to the mill (process). The final section is for inspection equipment and Exit Coil (Delivery) equipment.
The new Temper Mill replaces two existing mills and was part of ArcelorMittal Dofasco’s Finishing Optimization Project.
The Temper Mill is capable of processing high yield and tensile strength products of varying thicknesses and surface texture of the steel and the mill is designed to produce 742,000 tons per annum.
