Hydro One Richview TS Battery Building
|Trades:||Electrical, Mechanical, Civil|
Project Description and Scope:
Hydro One awarded the EPC contract to The State Group for the Engineering, Procurement and Construction of a new 186 square meter (2002 sf) Precast Battery Building at the Richview TS site. The Richview TS is located in Toronto, Ontario and is an existing multi-voltage station with 230kV– 115kV, as well as 27.6kV voltages.
The new building was constructed adjacent to the existing 230Kv area and working in this environment required a constant safety awareness of the surrounding services and live equipment.
Mobilization to site commenced in November 2014 and substantial performance was completed in April 2015.
The State Group self-performed the procurement and installation of new foundations, drainage modifications, slab on grade, and interior finishes. State also installed all the electrical and mechanical building services, and connected the new building to the existing station grounding grid system.
The State Group managed sub-trade services including engineering, precast panel supply and installation, roofing, masonry interior walls, painting and the fire alarm system.
Upon achieving substantial performance and acceptance of the building, Hydro One completed the DC switchgear and battery installation and cabling with their own resources.
