Project Description and Scope:

Hydro One awarded the EPC contract to The State Group for the upgrade of the existing Larchwood Transformer Station located in Chelmsford just west of Sudbury Ontario.

The existing station is a 115kV – 44kV system comprised of 3 single phase transformers that will be replaced with 1 three phase transformer as well as new breakers, switches, and 44kV secondary structure.

The existing station remained in operation throughout construction of the new station.

The State Group self‐performed the procurement and installation of new Foundations, Drainage modifications, Grounding system, Oil separator and associated Piping, Protection and Control Building, Cable trenches, Control cables, Duct banks, HV cable installation, Terminations, Steel structures, Aluminum buss structure, and Station lighting.

Upon completion and energization of the new station, the existing station equipment was demolished, foundations removed and disposed off‐site meeting all Environmental regulations.

The State Group also managed the subcontracted engineering and design services.
